The latest press release from WDT
September 8, 2006

The World Deaf Timberfest celebrated its grand 25th anniversary with 1364 campers and visitors presented at Camp Taloali over Labor Day weekend.   The whole 5-day event went very well with many recreational activities and logging events arranged for people and children to enjoy, watch, socialize, play, compete and eat at the camp!   Great Sprint-sponsored shows with John Maucere, the Deaf comedian were fabulous and hilarious!  Also, there were 27 great booths of food, commercial and crafts to browse and shop!

Here were the results from cash raffle tickets drawing last Saturday evening:

The luckiest winner with $750 raffle ticket went to LUANNE PAQUIN of Maine!

2nd  $500 raffle ticket went to Ron Sammons of Oregon

"Hands-up and shaking" and "Hats off" to the 2006 chairperson, Janice Logan, hard-working committees and helpers to make this successful.  The money proceedings (after all the expenses defrayed) will be donated to Camp Taloali's youth leadership program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

We were also grateful to our sponsors who helped make this happen!  The Sponsors were Sprint, Oregon Telecommunications Relay Service (OTRS), Sorenson Communications, Hands On Video Relay (HOVRS) and IP-Relay.

NOTE: There will be WDT's 30th anniversary planning meeting in the near future.  However, we will have a Family-style camping every year during Labor Day weekend in order to keep Camp Taloali preserved.  It will offer simply old fashioned fun with few activities like horseshoe pitching, fishing, swimming in low cost!  We will keep you informed (check the website) about the plans for the next five years!
